Cleansing Na Ito?
Days before ng Passover, Jews were commanded na dapat kanilang linisan ang kanilang mga tahanan mula sa anumang traces ng leaven o pampaalsa. walang leaven ang allowed during the Passover feast (Ex. 12:15-19; 13:7; Deut. 16:4) at hindi din ito allowed na ihalo sa mga sacrifices na ihahanda (Ex. 29:2; Lev. 2:11; 7:12; Num. 16:15). sa scriptures, ang leaven ay sumisimbolo sa sin at corruption (Mt. 16:6; Mk. 8:15; Lk. 12:1; 1 Cor. 5:7; Gal. 5:9) but at one point ay ginamit din ang effect nito sa tinapay din sa pagdami and influence ng church sa earth (Mt. 13:33). ang leaven ay ginagawa through mixing flour and water at hayaan ito for ilang days para ma-ferment. ang isang maliit na amount ng leaven ay sapat na para mapa-alsa ang isang buong tinapay

Sinabi ni Apostle Paul, commenting sa symbolism na ito :
" Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." (1 Cor. 5:7-8)
