PALM SUNDAY 2021 : Reflections On The Triumphal Entry Of The Savior
By Bro. Nathan
" Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass." (Zech. 9:9) KJV
The Savior, greeted by shouts, praises, and waving palm branches, binuksan ng event na ito ang pinakaimportanteng linggo sa human history.
The Historical
Backround
Ang event na ito ay may connection sa isang special event sa mga Jews, which is the Passover. ito ay ang paggunita sa deliverance ng Israel mula sa bondage mula sa mga slavery from the Egyptians (Ex. 12:27; Lk. 22:7). ang mga Jews ay pumupunta sa Holy City para i-celebrate ang event na ito, and Jesus went there too.
Sa Exodus 12, sa tuwing passover, inutusan ni Lord ang mga Israelites to select the Lamb na kanilang ihahanda. this should be selected sa ika-10 na araw ng first month. ang lamb na ito should be spotless. one na napili na, idadala ito sa tahanan ng mga families then mabubuhay sa tahanan nila for the next 4 days. sa gabi before magsimula ang 15th day, papatayin nila ang lamb, ipapahid ang dugo nito sa kanilang mga pintuan gamit ang hyssop, at lulutuin at kakainin sa Passover feast (Ex. 12:3-28). sa pamamagitan nito ay maililigtas ang Israel mula sa destroying angel. every tahanan na may dugo sa pintuan ay ma-spare ng destroying angel at maliligtas mula sa kamatayan. the Lord then inutusan ang Israel na igunita ang passover kada taon in remembrance sa redemption mula sa destroying angel at sa bondage of Egypt (Ex. 12:14, 41-22).
The Jews sa panahon ni Jesus Christ ay naghihintay sa pagdating ng Messiah more likely likewise sa panahon ng Passover at ineexpect na iniligtas niya sila mula sa Roman Empire. before ang Passover, hundreds of thousands ng Jews ay pupunta sa Holy Land para sa dadating na Passover. Jesus stayed on Bethesda kasama sina Mary, Martha, at Lazarus, in which may nangyaring isang great miracle, ang raising ni Lazarus from the dead.
(Mt. 21:4-9; Jn. 12:1-47). The word hosanna (Latin osanna, Gr. ὡσαννά, hōsanná) is from Hebrew הושיעה־נא, הושיעה נא hôšîʿâ-nā meaning 'save, rescue, savior'.
According sa sypnotic gospels, ang pagdating ni Jesus sa Jerusalem is the same day ng pagpili ng lambs para sa Passover. it was the tenth day of the month, five days before Passover. This would mean that on the very same day that the Jews were selecting their Passover lambs, Jesus, the true Lamb of God, rode into Jerusalem and was symbolically chosen by the people. Also, just as the lambs would be brought into the homes of the people to stay for the next four days, so too Jesus came into his Father’s house, the temple, and taught for the next four days before his death.
This fulfills ang prophecy ni prophet Zechariah,
" Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass." (Zech. 9:9) KJV
(cf. Jn. 3:15-17; 14:6; Acts 4:12; Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:22; Phil. 2:5-11; Heb. 5:8-9; 1 Jn. 3:5)
"In essence, we all have our own personal exodus story. A story where we are in spiritual bondage and can be released only by the blood of the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world. We each have the opportunity daily to select Jesus Christ as our Lamb of God and allow him into our homes. When we lay down our all before him as the Jews laid down their garments shouting Hosanna, we chose to accept the Savior, seeing Him for who He really is. Only then can we, like ancient Israel, be spared from the destroying angel of death and sin, and enter into the Promised Land because of the triumphal entry, death, and resurrection of the Lamb of God!" -Daniel Smith (Redeemer Of Israel)
